MIXED MEDIA
I sometimes embellish my finished prints with gold, silver and/or platinum leaf. This process is undertaken by hand and adds an additional dimension to the image with the light reflecting on the metal. Some examples of embellished prints are below.
All of these images are available as variable editions. This means that the underlying print is the same throughout the series but the embellishment is individual and unique for each image in the edition.

Another technique I enjoy is printing on acetate with a gold, silver or copper background. The metal highlights the light coloured parts of the print in particular which makes it the perfect technique for using with high contrast or even black & white photographs.
These images are small in size (8 x 8cm / 10 x 8 cm) but make a big impact, particularly when framed with a wide border mount that gives them the space to shine. The metal effect changes with the light and the angle of viewing. This makes it tricky to photograph the finished images in a way that shows their true properties - to give you an idea I added some examples of framed and mounted pictures:
